  • Recycle with Michael

    Thu 01 Dec 2022

Turn your unloved clothes and shoes into cash for our school!

We wanted to let you know about an exciting new project we’re discussing with the children this week. Today, we’re announcing our involvement in a new campaign and competition which aims to raise much-needed funds for the school whilst helping others in our community. And we need your help.

This term, we’re going to Recycle with Michael!

Facilitated by The Salvation Army’s Clothing Collection service, this nationwide scheme aims to divert thousands of tonnes of unwanted items away from landfill, while educating our children about the importance of reusing and recycling.

So we’re asking you to dig out those old clothes taking up space in your wardrobe, sort out the outgrown shoes, and fill the bags that we’re going to be sending home with the children this week. Our aim is to put together 50 bags for 50 years!

Plus, the school that fills the most bags in the county will receive a special visit from Michael, the recycling mascot, to present a trophy and certificate. Over the term, we’ll be speaking to the children about the environmental impact of waste, and ways to overcome the issue, during assemblies and through fun activities in class.

It couldn’t be easier to get involved. Simply:

    1. Send in your bags with your unwanted clothes and shoes (no bric-a-brac please). We will then sort items into the Recycle with Michael bags. Please make sure items being sent are clean.
    2. Bags can be dropped off at reception or alternatively, sent in with your child.
    3. Please send items in no later than FRIDAY 9TH DECEMBER 2022.

The Salvation Army will collect the bags and the money raised from the items will be shared with the school. The more bags we fill – the more cash we raise! If you’re having a clear out, remember Recycle with Michael, and donate to a great cause.

We hope you’ll help to support us and give your preloved clothes a new lease of life. If you have any questions, please feel free to discuss the project with teachers or pop into the office for more information.

Good luck with the sorting and thank you in advance!

  • 78 Donated Bags of Food!

    Mon 31 Oct 2022

WOW! We were aiming for 50 bags to donate to Nuneaton Foodbank and we have gone waaay past that! We bagged up a grand total of 78 bags of donations! And each and every bag was almost over flowing!

THANK YOU! Thank you to all of our wonderful Chetwynd families for being so incredibly generous and donating so much. Thank you to some of our Chetwynd children for helping to sort all the donations into categories and bags this morning and staff for helping with the heavy lifting!

Nuneaton Foodbank have now collected and were hugely thankful for the generosity. They have seen a big increase in clients needed to use the Foodbank service and so every donation really helps to service the needs of others.
