Internet Safety update for Parents: Poppy Playtime

We have been alerted to a video game called Poppy Playtime, featuring a character called Huggy Wuggy. It is being described by some users as an “introduction to horror.” Videos, versions of the game, and associated material are becoming increasingly popular on YouTube, Roblox, and other platforms used by young children. Poppy Playtime features frightening images and themes that are paired with child-friendly items. This may be especially upsetting to children who have not yet developed the resilience to deal with disturbing content. Despite this game only being available on PC, there are multiple copycat versions of it for children to download and play on Roblox, Minecraft, and all app stores. It’s important to note that none of these games are age-restricted. Poppy Playtime is also a part of the streaming phenomenon on YouTube, with popular YouTubers recording themselves playing the game and reacting to it. While the playthrough videos are not available on YouTube Kids, there are lots of videos with associated content specifically for children that would encourage them to seek out the source. It’s important to note that while children may not have played Poppy Playtime themselves, they may have watched a video of someone else playing it.

When online safety experts searched for “Poppy Playtime” with Google SafeSearch and YouTube Restricted Mode turned on, and the exact same top results came up when turned off. Posts relating to Poppy Playtime can be found across Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.

  • Big Walk and Wheel 2022

    Wed 09 Mar 2022

We are excited to announce that we will be taking part in the Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel 2022 (the new name for Big Pedal), the UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking, wheeling and scooting challenge. The challenge runs from 21 March to 1 April. It’s free and we would love everyone to be involved. Below is some information from Sustrans on how you can take part!

    Including everyone

We want to make sure that everyone can get involved in Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel.

We know there may be things which make it more difficult for some pupils to take part than others. If you want to discuss more about your child(ren)’s specific needs, please contact the school office and we will make sure that there is a way for your child to take part.

    Why we are taking part

Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel is a great way to build physical activity in children’s daily routine which is important for their physical health and mental wellbeing.

Active school runs also help to reduce congestion and air pollution outside the school gate. A 2021 YouGov study showed nearly half of UK children worry about air pollution near their school. And that children thought active travel was the best away to bring down these pollution levels.

Plus there are some great prizes to be won every day if we get enough children taking part!

    Useful resources

To help you prepare, Sustrans has developed a handy free guide packed with advice, games and challenges to help you have hassle-free cycle, walk or scoot to school.

Download your free family guide using this link:

For more information about the event go to www.bigwalkandwheel.org.uk. Enjoy the challenge!

  • Ukraine Donations Drop Off Point

    Mon 07 Mar 2022

We are aware that there are several local charities and organisations in the area collecting donations of items to send to the Ukraine.

We would like to help by collecting those donations so you have a single drop off point. We will make sure items are sorted so they can be distributed to different charities and organisations to support families in need in the Ukraine.

Donations can be dropped off to reception any time during the school day.

More details are on the flyer below.
