Fundamental British Values
British Values
At Chetwynd, we want our children to develop their sense of belonging and feel proud to be British. Through fundamental British Values, we want our children to understand their right to be treated fairly and equally through the Rule of Law and Individual Liberty. We want our children to understand how our country enables individuals to have their own opinion whilst making decisions as a community through Democracy. Finally, Chetwynd children will know their right to be their unique, individual selves, throughout their community. They will fully understand the responsibility not to be discriminative to others and their beliefs through Mutual Respect and Tolerance.
By embedding British Values across our school, Chetwynd pupils will become good citizens of the community and will have a good sense of where they are from.
As a school and in line with the DfE expectation to “promote fundamental British Values through a clear and rigorous approach”, key British Values will be taught to children to reinforce our school vision where our children will have the skills necessary to thrive in all aspects of their development.
