Chetwynd Road Safety
Road Safety at Chetwynd
Chetwynd is working hard to ensure our Road Safety curriculum provides good quality knowledge and skills for our children to stay safe on the roads.
We would like to thank our staff, children and families for the support with embedding our Safe and Active initiative across the school.
Statement from Miss Lawes (Headteacher)
Ensuring the safety of our pupils
At Chetwynd Junior School, the safety of our children is our top priority.
We encourage families to walk/bike/scoot where possible to reduce the traffic coming into Caroline Close. Bikes/scooters can be left on school grounds securely during the school day.
We are committed to creating a secure environment both within the school premises and in the surrounding areas. To achieve this, we ask for our parents, guardians and visitors to support in following several road safety measures to keep everyone safe.
Safe Parking Near the School
1. No Parking Zones: Avoid parking in the no-parking zones, near our school entrance. These zones are crucial for maintaining clear visibility and safe passage for the pupils.
2. Speed Limits: Adhere to the speed limits around the school and aim to drive slower when entering Caroline Close.
3. Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures: Please do not drop off and pick directly outside the school gates as you will cause congestion on the roundabout and further up the close.
4. Pedestrian Safety: Be vigilant for pedestrians, especially during school start and end times. Always yield to students crossing the road and be mindful of parked vehicles.
5. Parking Etiquette: Park your vehicle responsibly and avoid blocking driveways, the junction to the close where the houses are or other access points. This helps maintain a smooth flow of traffic and ensures emergency vehicles can access the school if needed.
By following these guidelines, we can work together to create a safe and secure environment for our pupils. If more families chose to park in a side street and walk to Caroline Close, this would help the situation immensely.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to road safety.
